TESTIMONIALS
“Well, we cracked the case! In fact we did some force on force training with it. As you know we own two combat ranges and we work daily to improve the training and survival of officers, I can honestly say that this is one of the best training tools we have ever used. I do not know off any other trainers in our area that utilize this equipment, all I can say is that it is going to be a permanent tool in our training program. We work with several SWAT teams and numerous officers daily; they will be pleasantly surprised after our next training day! This is a true life saver when used as recommended, no question about it.”

I have been reviewing training products for close to twenty years for my various books and the martial arts and law enforcement magazines for whom I have written. Many times the hype of a product goes far beyond what it actually delivers. With his Shocknife, Jeff Quail has discovered another piece to solving the self-defence training puzzle. The Shocknife, using pain judiciously and with a eye on preventing injury, allows students to experience a glimpse of what a "real cut" is like to keep their techniques grounded in the "real world" of what works on the street. If you haven't experienced the Shocknife - start training with the tool built for 21st century combatives instruction!

“The Shocknife brings realism to scenario based training, which is essential in making the training effective. During the time I was able to test and evaluate the shicknife, I was able to prove how important the reactionary gap is when dealing with a subject armed with an edged weapon. It is difficult for people to take that seriously when I am standing 20 feet away from them with a piece of orange rubber. All of a sudden when I place the Shocknife in my hand and they hear that intimidating hum, the fear of getting "zapped" causes them to handle to training situation much more tactically.”

"If you want to take your reality based training to the next level, I would highly recommend the Shocknife. This exciting new technology is the closet thing to the 'real thing.' With proper guidelines in place, the Shocknife will definitely increase the effectiveness of student learning, enhance the learning environment, and maximize students survival skills. The Shocknife is the 'next generation' in fundamental teaching aides for maximizing students confidence in their survival skills."

"I see a LOT of different technologies and training concepts enter the Reality Based Training marketplace, and when I first heard that there was a new training knife coming out, my first thought was 'oh god, not another marking knife!' As the original co-founder of SIMUNITION® I have always believed in the power of the possibility of a pain consequence for tactical error. So when the concept of the Shocknife was explained to me, I thought 'finally - here are a couple of guys who really "get it" ... I hope this thing works!'
After having had the opportunity to work with it, I wish it would have been available before my book went to press! The Shocknife actually exceeds my expectations. When used properly within the confines of a well established and tightly controlled realistic training environment, the Shocknife is an essential training tool that finally gets trainees to pay attention to the dangers of edged weapons. No other technology (with the dangerous exception of an actual blade) that I have worked with creates such a realistic response from the students when faced with an edged weapon in the training environment. Before the Shocknife, we have had to rely upon training knives that, at best, had an edge that could be coated with a marking substance to demonstrate where the student had been 'cut' during an after action review. While the concept of a 'marking blade' is useful and has its place in the training continuum, it does not create any fear or risk aversion on the part of the student during the actual training event since there is no possible pain consequence to their tactical errors. Student behaviors change IMMEDIATELY once the Shocknife is introduced into the training environment.
I believe that the Shocknife is an essential piece of equipment for any serious Reality Based Training program. As with any other piece of gear, however, it is essential that training staff be properly educated in the effective use of such a technology so that it doesn't simply become a cool new toy or a torture device to be used on the students. If you have a well structured training program and competent instructors and role players, then I whole heartedly suggest you buy the Shocknife as an essential addition to your training gear."

“I have been training in martial arts for over 30 years and have never seen a product like the Shocknife. This is not a toy, this is the most realistic training knife I have ever used. Having the ability to adjust the shock level allows for all types of training. I highly recommend the Shocknife to anyone interested in realistic knife training.”

“I have survived two knife attacks and can tell you that the Shocknife felt exactly like the real cuts I experienced but without the injuries. I was surprised how rugged and durable the knife was. Simply put, the Shocknife SK-2 is best training knife being sold today.”

"My name is John Harris I retired 3 + years ago from Federal Corrections in Canada. I was a senior manager at a maximum security facility during my latter years. I worked my way up through the system from Correctional Officer, Member of and IERT team, Intelligence Officer and staff trainer. I have been involved in training Correctional Officers as well as Senior Managers.
I retired 3 years ago after over 30 years in Corrections having served at most every level of security. After the three years of retirement, I entered the field as the Course Manager for the Correctional Officer Cadet training program at the Atlantic Police Academy in PEI. In the Correctional Officer Training program, we are introducing many scenarios to help Cadets practice the skills we are trying to teach them. Some of those scenarios involve an Officer being confronted by a hostile Offender who is in possession of a knife and is waving the knife in a threatening manner towards the staff. When we did this with "simulated ' Knives made of plastic, the tendency was for the Officer to not feel any big threat and they would usually try to go for the knife or disarm the offender. They did not have much fear of a "plastic" knife. However, I recently had the opportunity to observe the same
correctional officer Cadets in a scenario where the knife used was the SHOCKNIFE ( which had been demonstrated to them in a prior class). The difference was fantastic. All of a sudden they were faced with something real that would sting a lot if they came into contact with it. During de-brief, I heard comments like , "Boy, did that ever bring the "tunnel vision" into play." "All I could see was that knife." "When I saw that knife, I sure did not want to try to touch that thing". "When he came at me with that knife, my heart rate just went off the scale, just thinking about it, I can still feel my heart pounding"
What the SHOCKNIFE did was add an excellent element of reality to the scenario and it sure made them think of those other options. I am impressed with it and would not hesitate to recommend it to any similar training facility. In fact, I will be mentioning it to a trainer that I am familiar with in the Federal Corrections program out here in the Atlantic region.
Thank-you for providing this great training device.

"The shocknife is a training blade that electronically duplicates the sensation of being cut! It is absolutely amazing. When Jeff Quail, the inventor, dragged the blade across my arm, I had to look to convince my self I had not just been sliced open. The sensation made my blood run cold ! This will prove a valuable training tool when instructing students in knife fighting and knife defense. Excellent product. I'm going to get a copy!"

"We changed our focus to realistic defenses against a knife. After putting the student through a series of close quarter defenses where they would have to engage the knife for an extended period of time, I put each of them through a very interesting emotional examination:
I attacked them non-stop for 45 to 60 seconds with a Shocknife. I put the settings on a medium level and then assaulted them at the specified angles they had trained. I also changed angles every now and then to keep them on their toes. Some got cut while others did not. However, their emotions were charged high (because no one wanted to be shocked by the knife). This knife is a GREAT training tool!!!
Right now, the knife is only available to law enforcement and military personnel. Once they come out with a civilian version of the knife, it will be available to martial artists around the globe.
I can't say enough good things about the knife. It is sturdy and easy to wield. The battery in it lasts for quite awhile. I have had the knife since January and have trained with it for well over two hours, yet it still packs a good punch when it touches you!
Over the next month or so, I plan to continue more training with the ShocKnife. I know it will make a difference in my JKD students edged weapons defenses!"
